Red state folks are appearing increasingly in media interviews, especially in farming areas and industries dependent on it, complaining that Trump “isn’t what they voted for.” They’ve suddenly found no international markets for their products and no cheap labor to pick their crops and tend to their livestock. And they rightfully blame Trump.
You can make your own choices of course. For me, i have about the same sympathy I would have for someone lending his car to a staggering drunk who then ran down a family in a crosswalk. Just because there was no intent behind the lender’s carelessness doesn’t mean there was no culpability. In many states a bartender can be charged with negligent homicide for over-serving a drunk driver who kills.

It means they haven’t confronted their own craven values which drove them to support this pathologically lying, corrupt, hateful, racist, criminal, divisive, megalomaniacal, traitorous, stupid POS in the first place. They’re only crying now because the rabid dog they willfully unleashed on all of us bit them too. Therefore they’ve earned no sympathy points from me.
That includes right wing talking heads like Joe Rogan and Marjorie Taylor Greene. I’m grateful that they’ve finally found some semblance of empathy and turned against Trump’s mass violence against undocumented immigrants. Unfortunately, their comments bloviated barely six months ago that people “like me” were evil, unpatriotic communists and TDS sufferers who wanted to see the country burned beyond all recognition are still fresh in my ears. You’re on double secret probation. Sorry, that’s the best I can do for you.
Here’s the reality of heartland Trumpism, where we’re hearing most of these sob stories.
In 2023, China bought $14B of American soybean production. In 2024, it was $12B. In 2025 it has bought $0 of American soybeans. It also bought $0 of new crop corn and other grains, all thanks to Trump’s pissy tariffs. So where is China getting its soybeans and corn now? From Brazil and Argentina.
When you ask these gullible fools why Trump’s “plan” for bringing China to its knees with his idiotic tariffs hasn’t worked, they mumble something about his “genius” and “a long term plan.” Horseshit. The only plan we’ve seen from Trump is another “this time I really mean it!” deadline.
The only president with a plan is China’s Xi Jinping and he’ s already deployed it. US farmers and the industries dependent on them are already fucked, probably permanently.
China isn’t stupid, unlike the morons who still trust a con man who torpedoed almost all of his own businesses through gross mismanagement and ineptitude. The US represents a mere 11% of China’s export volume. China saw the writing on Trump’s wall from his first round of fruitless tariffs in 2017 which cost American consumers and businesses $51 billion.
All China wanted — in fact, all that all our foreign trading partners want— was a reliable, dependable dancing partner, not a fickle drama queen who makes US trade policy with the same nasty and erratic incoherence as his dozens of daily “Truths”. Over the past few years China invested billions in agriculture and infrastructure improvements in South America and Africa, ensuring that US farmers are screwed permanently. Those foreign crops have already been harvested (by Chinese-made farm equipment of course) and shipped.
Now Trump wants to bail out Argentina with $20B in taxpayer money. Why? Because its right wing president, Javier Milei, is a big Trump fan. He kisses Trump’s fat ass just right so American farmers who are overwhelmingly Trump supporters get to watch their crops rot in silos, unsold while their taxes are used to bail out their foreign competitors. That’s Trump’s “genius” on the ground.
Meanwhile, Trump will also need to bail out the American farmers he screwed using that same cash pipeline: American taxpayers. (PS: this is called “socialism” in case Trumpers who spew that word like Tourettes victims want to look up its actual definition). He did the same thing during his last term: $40B to bail out farmers from the consequences of his last brainless tariffs.
There are no surprises in any of this. Trump’s entire scam-ridden life is about being rescued by third parties — his father, his siblings, the banks, China, Russia — to bail out his conga line of failed businesses. Then he became president and now it’s our turn. There’s nobody to rescue us from his or their idiocy and malpractice except a wised-up constituency to throw them all out of office and release the prosecutors. I don’t have a lot faith in that happening.
I don’t know how we’re going to survive another 3.5 years of Trump and his lemmings.
