Whether or not Trump visited Epstein’s “Orgy Island” has little bearing on whether or not he was present during the latter’s pedo parties. These vile sex parties were in full swing long before Epstein bought Little St. John’s Island in 1998, which wasn’t in operation until at least 2006.
Before then Epstein’s pedo orgies were held at his NYC and Palm Beach mansions. All of the victims discovered by the Palm Beach Daily News in 2005 were abused in the Palm Beach area. Palm Beach Police discovered at least 36 underaged girls abused by Epstein and his party attendees. They were all documented in the original indictment, before federal prosector Alex Acosta reduced all of the alleged victims down to just one and a non-prosecution deal for “solicitation”, as if these girls, or rather this girl, was a prostitute.
Plea deal sealed, there would be no trial. Trump’s name would never be mentioned in open court. Rather than echo the revulsion of the country towards this outrageous miscarriage of justice, Trump rewarded Acosta with an appointment to his 2016 cabinet as Secretary of Labor. Quid pro quo.
It’s not a matter of if Trump attended Epstein’s parties. We know that he did from Trump’s own admissions. We know that Trump and Epstein were best friends since the 1990s, that they partied together often both in NYC and Palm Beach, that there’s plenty of photographic and video evidence supporting it. Trump even gushed about Epstein being a “great guy” who liked to party with women “on the younger side”. How would Trump know this if he hadn’t been at those parties?
Cults always give their infallible leaders a free pass no matter how foul or criminal their behavior. The Us-vs-Them mentality is baked into their brains, whether it’s the People’s Temple, Heaven’s Gate, the Branch Davidians, the Manson Family or Scientology. Attacks on their Exalted Ones are met with counter-attacks, not honest questions or self-awareness. So it is with MAGA. Dissing Donald is an attack on their faith.
But it’s different this time because Trump chummed the waters of his faithful with promises that the Guilty would be exposed. There would be dire consequences. And it would happen Real Soon Now! By “Guilty” Trump of course implied “Democrats”. As it turned out though, he accidentally created a bipartisan issue for which both Democrats and Republicans strongly agree: release the documents. All of them.
Trump’s desperation to bury the Epstein files took an abrupt 180 last week with the official administration denial of the existence of an Epstein client list. This outraged the red meat shock jocks on the right because they were so invested in the foolish Qanon notion that it would take down powerful Democrats, completely ignoring Trump’s prior close personal relationship with Epstein. Trump convinced these bobbleheads that he would release that evidence, just as he convinced voters he’d release his taxes and his fabulous better-than-Obamacare health care plan. And dozens of other such unfulfilled promises.
Instead, Trump’s new narrative this week is that the Epstein files do exist but that they’re a fabrication by a series of Democratic presidents, from Clinton through Biden. Decent Americans shouldn’t be permitted to see such lies! Never mind that Trump’s own DOJ indicted and prosecuted Epstein in 2019 and that he was in federal custody in NYC awaiting trial on those charges when he allegedly killed himself. Never mind that Trump wasn’t even in politics when Epstein’s alleged crimes were committed. Before 2016 most people, including most Republicans, would have laughed at the prospect of an egotistical game show host like Trump actually ascending to the White House.
I believe that Trump knows that he’s in those Epstein documents. He’s seen them, knows that they’re damning and that, one way or another, they’re going to get out even it’s done Wikileaks-style. One of those facts is that at least a couple of Epstein’s victims were recruited at Mar A Lago, as noted in the original Florida indictment.
We saw Trump’s opening move this week with the firing of Epstein prosecutor Maurene Comey whom his own DOJ had put in charge of the Epstein re-trial and which Trump facilitated with her appointment as a federal prosecutor at SDNY by firing Preet Bharara in early 2017.
Trump is going to try to get his slack-jawed followers to believe that that evidence, most of it compiled before Trump even announced an interest in running for president, is an elaborate Democratic plot against him — that “Sleepy Joe” Biden hopped in his time-traveling Delorean, went back to 2005 when Epstein was indicted and Bush2 was president, then forward to 2009 when Obama succeeded Bush, and convinced them to forge evidence against an innocent and upstanding real estate legend, Donald Trump, unfairly tying him to a Florida sex trafficker about to go on trial in Florida.
What Trump is banking on are the smooth brains in the MAGA cult drawing a connection from Jim Comey to his daughter. Trump got elected in 2016 largely because of Jim Comey’s inappropriate, 11th hour announcement of federal wrongdoing by Trump’s opponent in 2016, Hillary Clinton. It was only when Comey later refused to kiss Trump’s ass that he became an enemy.
Trump expects his choir to sing along to his new song. The lyrics are predictable so most of them will. I have no doubt about that.
